Runcorn Town left it late to secure victory against Maine Road in the first league game of the 2017/18 season.
Seb Julien gave Town the perfect start after five minutes as he hit a low shot into the net after Craig Cairns had laid the ball into his path. And three minutes later it was two, Cairns flicking the ball into the path of Rob Doran who found the top right hand corner.
Maine Road pulled one back on 39 minutes from a corner which was turned in from close range before Connor Hughes equalised with the last kick of the half from distance.
Road then took the lead midway through the half from the penalty spot, Rick Williams finding the top corner, with Road the better side throughout much of the game until Town's late rally.
With four minutes remaining Mark Reed equalised with a header after Cairns effort came back off the crossbar. And Cairns himself hit the winner in stoppage time, turning in a free kick which Danny Jarrett had headed on to secure an unlikely victory.
